AutoStandby 2.0 Help

Welcome to AutoStandby 2.0! AutoStandby can be configured by going to Options > AutoStandby on your device.

Once installed, AutoStandby will attempt to check and auto-configure various required permissions needed for operation. These are Idle Timer, Phone, and Keystroke Injection. Please accept any prompts for these permissions for correct functionality. If you do not receive a prompt asking for these permissions or AutoStandby does not appear to be functioning correctly, follow these steps:

1. Go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications

2. If you do not see AutoStandby listed here, press the Menu key and select Modules

3. Select "AutoStandby" and press the Menu key and select Edit Permissions

4. Under Connections, make sure Phone is set to ALLOW

5. Under Interactions, make sure Keystroke Injection and Security Timer Reset are set to ALLOW

6. Under Options > AutoStandby, make sure you have AutoStandby enabled :)

7. Reboot the device by removing the battery

For a more complete description of this process and the settings AutoStandby uses, please reference the Third-Party Application Control section under Security in your BlackBerry device User Manual that came with your device, or online at http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/devices.

Option Descriptions

Enable AutoStandby

This enables or disables the application altogether

Disable if connected to PC

This will prevent AutoStandby from taking affect if connected via USB to a computer.

Disable if externally powered

This will prevent AutoStandby from taking affect if connected to any external power source.

Allow third-party interactions

This will allow other third-party applications to interact with AutoStandby. For example, setting this will allow Aerize Alerts to display notifications on your device even when in standby mode.

Mode

Select whether you would like to just use standby mode, lock the device, or both.

Seconds to wait after screen blanks

This is the amount of time AutoStandby will wait after the backlight turns off to take effect. For example, if your backlight timeout is set to 30 seconds, and you set this delay to 30 seconds, it will take 60 seconds of idle time before AutoStandby becomes active. If you press any key during this delay, the timer will reset and the screen will turn back on.

Disabling Rules

Applications you select here will prevent AutoStandby from activating. For example, if you wanted to disable AutoStandby from activating when you are playing music, just start the application you want to add and keep it running, go to Options > AutoStandby > Disabling Rules, select the music player and hit Save twice. Any time the program is running, even in the background, AutoStandby will not activate.

Other Features

Quick Toggle

You can toggle AutoStandby on/on quickly by pressing the Mute key quickly three times.

Advanced Settings
AutoStandby is now equipped with advanced options to further fine tune your preferences. These settings can be accessed in the Disabling Rules screen in AutoStandby options. Press the Menu key and choose Advanced.

Disable only if active window

When this is set on an application that is set to disable AutoStandby, the rule will only take effect if that application is the top-most window. If the Application is running in the background, AutoStandby will activate as normally defined.

Minimize if active window

This setting will minimize an application if it is active (top-most) window before entering standby. Some third-party applications such as media players trap key-press events and can cause AutoStandby to have unintended consequences. AutoStandby will still activate and when you resume, you will be brought to the home screen.
